How to avoid spring mold allergies

Spring has officially sprung in Huntington, and love is in the air.  Unfortunately, so is mold.  If you're one of the many people affected by mold allergies, here are some ways to stay safe and sane this spring:

• Keep a pollen and spore tracker on your phone to alert you to allergen levels in your zip code
• Take allergy medication or a face mask when going to places with high allergens, like greenhouses or antique stores
• Avoid uncut fields and damp leaves, which are havens for mold
• Wear a mask when mowing the lawn
• Consider getting a dehumidifier
• Keep your kitchen and bathroom clean, as warm damp places breed mold
• Keep an eye on your basement
• Make sure your air conditioner has a HEPA filter
